Two Love Poems by Olabode Olanrewaju

When it comes to writing love poems, it takes a certain ingredient which when absent makes the poem a gathering of cliched lines. We found this ingredient in Olabode Olanrewaju’s “Lovers’ Web” and “Thunderbolt.” Each poem struck a chord and made a statement that is…

.
.
The urge to over-explain and litter one's work with unnecessary adjectives can seem irresistible and even seem like the wisest thing to do if one of your writing goals is clarity.

But Paulo Coelho, @paulocoelho says the right thing to do is to trust your readers. Never over-explain! It is not bad to give them a hint and let their imaginations pick it from there.

This writing tip is very important when writing prose. Don't spread a character too thin. Don't give him or her all away. It's such a fine way to keep your reader hooked.

Nora Roberts is one of such writers and she works with her BICHOK (Butt in Chair, Hands on Keyboard) principle and digs it out daily. She advises other writers to get on with the task of writing daily and not wait until they feel like it or hope for some "muse" to come around and inspire them.

Sounds hard? Well... There's hardly an easy way to do something big and extraordinary. So... Keep at it!

Most of the greatest writers you have read are self-taught. They had a blossoming career in the sciences or something completely out of the arts and writing. Some of them neither took writing courses nor read a book on writing. Nora Roberts who has written over 200 novels is one of them.

Welcome to 2021 and we wish you a great writing year!

How about we begin with a writing tip from the great Garcia, author of One Hundred Years of Solitude?
.
.
Here it is... Garcia says, write about what you know. What you have experienced. There are some writers who would try to make you believe this is a bad idea but if you want to write an edge-cutting story. A masterpiece or bestseller. This advice is a great one because it will boost your confidence in your own story and once the storyteller tells his/her story confidently, it is very likely to be a bomb!
.
.
A story comes alive when written but a story written confidently, flies. Yeah, it grows wings and flies 🙂
