By Joshua Tom
A minor chord
and then an arpeggio
like a blonde on balé
a question danced on my broken heart.
When
the melody goes to bed
and there’s no strum or click,
when our world goes silent
will you still be Family?
Oh!
when all our viols are shattered
and the roses go on “leave”
when there’s no more fragrance on our skins
will you still be Family?
Dear! when my smiles reveal a broken tooth
and my skull bears the marks of a battle
when romance develop wings and fly away
will you still be family?
Joshua Tom is a passionate writer. He looks forward to harnessing the powers of the ink to effect a rugged change in my generation.
