We launched Eboquills annual anthology this year. When the submissions window closed in July, we had received poems from Cameroon, Nepal, the United Kingdom, and from all over Nigeria. We want to thank all the poets who sent in their poems.

Every one of them explored the theme: Our Girls: Their voice, virtue, and vices. We had poems that made us snap our fingers, sigh, become teary, smile heartily, and fill us with hope. We are especially delighted because about 50% of the contributing poets are teen poets and mostly female. All of us at Eboquills, are so proud of them.

Cover Reveal: Eboquills annual anthology

From the poems selected to be part of this maiden edition, we ‘harvested’ its really beautiful title – “In the memory of girls who built their dreams far from home.” We have Bella Ogwuche to thank for this beautiful assemblage of words which neatly strung all the unique and diverse poems together.

We encourage girls from all over the world to push voice-stifling boundaries and continue to interrogate norms that no longer serve them. Our hope is that this book becomes a kind of creed for girls who believe they can be much more than what limiting cultures say.
