The Dark Mass
Once upon a cold morning
in May. her bed rattled & with a hushed
Tone like a heartbeat. she softened my uneasiness & used my hands to
Clean tears from her face.
She sang solemn songs
As her smiles colored her face
& encouraging words dropped from her lips,
Do not fear the shadow that rules the night,
Your being will shine like the sun
That rules the day.
15 years had flown
But still, her feathery words spread
Fibers of remembrance in my heart.
Her words, of bittersweet age,
Of her passing,
Of her voyage,
& her blessing to me.

It’s a good one. Very brief and powerful.
